How We Are Different

Matching Approach

At Career Next Step we believe in the matching approach to career decision-making. The matching approach requires individuals to conduct a comprehensive self-analysis, a thorough evaluation of how different opportunities fit with their profile, and then pursue a career that offers the best match. For the matching approach to work, you must know yourself inside and out, understand the specific demands and requirements of various career opportunities, and use a decision-making process that combines the two. Leveraging multiple assessments and a proven process, Career Next Step will provide you with the tools to do just this.

Multiple Assessments

In our 35+ years of career counseling we have concluded that there is no single instrument that provides enough information to make a truly informed career decision. Only by taking multiple assessments can an individual develop a reliable and comprehensive understanding of their interests, behavioral preferences, and life goals. Based on the pioneering work of professors at the Harvard Business School and Darden School of Business, Career Next Step provides users with access to 16 assessments covering attributes, such as interpersonal preferences, leadership qualities, life balance requirements, and cognitive preferences.

Proven Process

Our process emerged at the Harvard Business School in the late 1970s and has been taught at the University of Virginia’s Darden School of Business for the past 25 years. During this time, we have helped thousands of students to discover their unique personal profile and then use that knowledge to pursue a career that is more rewarding personally and professionally. Since launching Career Next Step as an online product in early 2005, we have had the pleasure of assisting several thousand students, alumni, and Internet users throughout the world. Our process is proven effective in both a classroom and online format. Click here for a small sample of client testimonials.

Affordable Option

Career Next Step offers both a powerful and affordable solution. By going through this process, you will be equipped with a deep self-profile and proven career transition guide that far exceeds the value of that which would be provided by any career counselor. Our modest price point (ranging from $125 - $175) pales in comparison to the several thousand dollars that individuals normally spend on career counseling.
